You can, and if you watch this you can see why. It's all gone wrong way before the boom strike. Watch the angle of the vertical yellow chevron on the crane in relation to the white mast in the distance - the second barge starts to list at 36 seconds in and the load gets pulled onto the boom.

Spot on Pete. Am at work now on a large screen and you can clearly see the yellow chevrons move and the far barge listing.

Amazing nobody was killed. The poor woman in the lower right of the screen running from her house must be pooping it!

it looks like the boom snaps its pivot at the base then just after a spray of hydraulic fluid probably, is this due to the bad angle of the crane on the barge or was the pivot pin or its anchors in poor condition ?
