MTE320 type II electronic box ?

Someone here have a welder like this with a pedal ?

I have seen some YouTube videos of DIY pedals for TIG welders with just a potentiometer inside the pedal.

I have no pedal but want to know such a simple pedal can be used/selfmade for the MTE320 too.

Does anyone know ?

I know the machine it's a migatronic mte. Others might not who may be able to help you so worth putting up some pics.

There's two pots in the Migatronic pedals, maybe some decoupling/smoothing caps too. Page 17 of the owners manual gives wiring diagrams/pot values etc for the remote socket http://www.cbl-welding.com/pdf/MTE Dialog.pdf I'm guessing, probably wrongly, that it could work with just one pot to vary the amperage between 0 and whatever the machine is set to if you want?

My problem is - and maybe is only a learning problem, I don't know - that I often stop pushing the trigger because of gloves, moving ect, ect - then I thought a footpedal would be better for turning ON/OFF anf if it even could vary the amp it would be VERY NICE !

Well if your happy with on and off its easy. Remove the torch connection plug and plug in a foot switch Where you would normally connect the torch switch. ie a two core cable to a button that sits on the floor. Set the current on the machine and step on the button.

As Richard said an on/off foot switch is easy, another way to avoid having to keep the torch button pressed is via the 2T/4T switch on the machine. Migatronic call it 'self hold' and describe it on pg 11 of the manual. Like all manuals they make it sound more complicated than it is by describing it in the most complicated way possible. Basically in 2T (depicted with 2 arrows) it's press and hold to weld, release to stop. 4T can be used various ways but in it's simplest press and release the button to weld, press it again to slope down (amps taper down to finish current) and release to shut off the arc
