I've got a (4" ?) York. Had it new as a birthday present off in-laws nearly 40 years ago. Still in perfect condition despite lots of use

Does anyone know where to get an acme leadscrew and coupling nut?

Where's the photo then? You know there has to be photo's included for us geeks. Nice vices, aren't they. They're cute as and functional.

The fun is in the lack of head scratching, saved time and avoiding the 'wishing you'd never started this project' stage when you get halfway through.

Make sure you post plenty of info & photo's if this project does get off the ground.

If it's 'just' for a vice clamping screw you can get square thread bar and a nut from an old scissor jack... If you slot the nut you could also make it adjustable for backlash.

That would work, where can I get a scissor Jack? Mum said I can't have her's before you suggest that.
