Oxford Plasma cutter

Whilst researching my next plasma cutter I found this. I did not know that Oxford did a plasma cutter - I have always been a fan of their welders and this single phase machine looks very interesting.

It look like a viable alternative to a Hypertherm powermax 45. Sorry if this old news but its new to me.

Very very good cutters, relatively new as far as I know but a fair few of the farmers in Shropshire have got them, not cheap though. Seem them around £1400 + VAT some places

But would you really store your mig wire like that exposed,esp if thats your cutting table.

I've just had a thought,on the heating side of things couldn't you do that with any plasma cutter,mine produces a flame just like that if i dont ground the earth to the work piece

Interested to hear any development on this, as I've been looking at a Plasma for the next purchase - Just don't tell her in doors yet!

Not in the same league as Hypertherm.

Having never used a Hypertherm before I am curious to know why you say that, I can see that its not very portable weighing in at 50kg but on paper it appears to out perform the Hypertherm both in performance and price.
The heating function appeals a lot, that would mean I could get rid of my bottles which aint cheap.

Hypertherm are quite literally the bar against which all plasma cutters are measured.
They have so much quality check within their factories that it is nigh on impossible for something to go wrong with them. They also don't use cheap parts and the majority of their factories are in the US so they're not being assembled in China/ India etc..

On the other hand.. Tec Arc ain't getting their machines made in the far east either but I doubt their quality assurance is anywhere near the level of Hypertherm's. Now that's not to say that these Oxford plasma's ain't a mean bit of kit because they sure as hell are (I've seen plenty of them)

Personally, If I could afford it I'd be going for a Hypertherm because of portability, consumable availability & after care.
