Warrington Steam Fair

Any of the North West lads go to this today? weather was great and the place was full of mechanical wonders...picked up a load of mixed grade emery rolls including one almost 10" wide in diameter off the traders all for £22.00....this is the 4th steam fair and rally so far this year and plan on going to a few more yet.

NO, had to go do some gardening, or I get the sulks when I go to the garage/workshop.

never been to that one...the lad will go bananas when he see,s the engines up close..Try get there early when all the engine fireboxes are still stoking up as theres loads of thick smoke and the smell is addictive.

Get yourselves there if you can, apart from the excellent exhibits of traction engines and vintage vehicles, there is a minature railway in operation giving rides to the public, through a delightful area of woodland, there are both steam and diesel locomotives in operation, the society is WDMES (google it they have a website)

Unfortunately just like 99% of country fairs/ shows of any sort, they are swamped with travellers. We camped at Pickering 2 yrs ago, within ear shot of a security station, I felt sorry for them, constantly through the night [and day] trying to stop them from either stealing, breaking through the barriers, or just been travellers.

Americana (this w/e) has been totally overrun with them, apparently blocking the roads off so no one could get in or out yesterday.

Selby game fair, the traders had to sleep on the stalls, as them were walking off with whole rails of clothing.
