If it was just a 16' trailer for bales and field work I would have taken the wheel drums off and removed all the braking stuff and half shafts while I was at it, just that it's not difficult to remove the half shafts while the drums are off anyway. I can't see any real harm in the prop shaft flange spinning below the trailer if you don't, might pick up some hay, baler twine or fence wire.

Well a few hours on Saturday was all I got in, but got her 'finished' today. Pics as promised, but I'm a little shy as this is an agricultural job and not one of my normal highly polished specimens. I got the brakes wound off and she towed away with not so much as a pop. As I wound off the brakes there was fluid peeing out of the cut through pipes so I know there was movement in the hub. Next time I have the grit blaster going I may give her a dust over and a paint but for now just a weeks sunshine is what I really need.

Not so much snapping as twisting is the problem-UC and UB are remarkably twisty, it was actually quite easy to twist the full 2.7m length of the single beam quite a bit just by hand. As an agricultural engineering apprentice I must have repaired and reinforced at least 3 twisted drawbars in just a couple of years, but hopefully the doubled up bit will stop any of that carry-on.Proper job mate.
