Ironman challenge, Please help,

My son in law is doing this Iron man challenge in a few weeks, He has put himself through hell for months training for this gruelling event, Please watch the video and Give as much or as little as you can for such a worthy cause, Macmillan nursing care for cancer patients is legendary and and the efforts they go to to try to ease the lives of the terminally ill cancer patients is truly amazing,

He has already done a few much smaller events for charities, but this one is the biggie,
He is 48 now, but got the heart of a lion, How anybody can do such a swim, bike ride and end with a full distance marathon is far beyond the imagination of a confirmed couch potato,
Please help to raise as much as possible.

48, he is still a sprog,I used to do all that just to go for a pint from the barracks, what you may not know is that kids get cancer too, as do teenagers, its not reserved for the middle aged or older generation. For most people on here, the big C has probably visited someone you know or one of your family circle.
The dignity of some of those who are struck down with it is awesome to behold, I support a particular charity, but I encourage everyone to pitch in, think about it, what if everyone on this forum donated a quid, one pound, or, the price of a pint at your local.
You can probably chip in from your smartphone with a text.

yeah, but have you done it with no bike and 45 lbs of kit and a rifle - south Wales- you know the hill then-good luck and good going for your 4th, and to Neil on his 1st.

Last time I looked at the rules, rifles were banned and a bike is compulsory if you want to finish under the 17hrs cut off time..............I do carry 45lbs but that's just food, on the 112mile bike if that counts

They do an "Ironbutt Rally here in the uk, a guy I worked with has done 2, the first one he did he was so tired by the end he filled his bike with diesel twice........

A great post and a topic dear to my heart. The sister in law had ovarian cancer recently, she's in remission now and is running a 10K for cancer research later this year. The missus has raised a few hundred this year with 10K runs and 2 week kids fashion choice thingy where the kids chose the clothes she wore, anything in the wardrobe was game. I sneaked in my leather welding hood but she vetoed that

I raised just over 2 grand growing a beard which was for cancer research and the 250 quid I paid for the lathe went to a hospice near Basildon.

Just a little more info;; Neil and my 17 year old granddaughter set off early this morning for Turkey, doing some open water swimming practice for a week including a swim from Turkey to Greece, Not for me I'm afraid but very proud of them both, He is just about half way to his modest Macmillan fund raising target, Lets all hope he gets enough support to surpass his goal,
