A little local knowledge in Glasgow please.

I was hoping someone could advise.
4 of us are coming up to Hampden on sunday and I was unsure of the parking availability and didnt want to fall foul of the rip off gig parking charges.
I was thinking of parking off somewhere and getting a taxi to the stadium where would be best.

Well that is what I was worried about in the gig parking coz they charge afortune and people know how long you are away, but I would like a bit left, to travel home in.

I'd park centrally (parking is free on Sundays) and get the train from Glasgow Central to Mount Florida. Looks like the last train back to Central Station is 23:38 - not sure what time the gig finishes?

The problem with getting a taxi is that there are probably 5,000 other people with the same idea. However, you could just start hiking back into the city centre - getting away from the masses will increase the chance of getting a taxi.
So, yes, that's a reasonable plan.

This time last year my two sons went to see Kasabian in Leicester, knowing they wouldn't get a train back to Northampton I went to pick them up and to save me driving into the city we arranged to meet at a fast food joint at J21 of the M1, they thought they would just get a 3 mile taxi ride there, turned out taxi's were a minimum 4 hour wait and treble the normal price,
As I drove into Leicester to find them there were hundreds of people desperate for transport trying to flag down any car that was moving, many standing in the road with a fistful of money, when I eventually found them, (thanks to mobile phones) pulled in and someone tried to get in the car before them, madness...

Leaving car at whitecraigs train station take train, runs, every 1/2hr in to stadium station mount florida,4-5ml, I have already been on to the taxi firm and booked the taxi back they told me £9/10

Well an update on the weekend, saturday night the lads went to stop at their dads for a belated fathers day bash--BASH being the operative word, they end getting MERRY and arguing, so had to get ready and go to ellesmere port at 0330 hrs to rescue one of them, finally got to sleep on couch at 0530 up again 0830 get the car ready, wait for mate to arrive at 1130 drive back to ellesmere port to pick two other revelers, then set off. Got to m/welding member Adrian H, to pick up some gear, THANKS again Adrian , then on to glasgow. Train in NA BOTHER then nearly got arrested for drinking on the streets £40 spot fines being handed out, coz the pubs where full, quick burger, back to areana, into gig, for the best GIG ever BRILLIANT, 40000 people all rockin from 6-8 yrolds to old codgers like me. Angus on top form REALLY GIVIN IT SOME did a 15min solo, on---- let there be rock .
AND THE FINALE'E we salute you, with all the cannons and fireworks going off was FAN-TAS-TIC all good,till the getting out absolute grid lock every where nothing could move anywhere police stopping us from getting back to trains 10000 people trying to get to station, taxis couldnt move, to get to rendezvous point. We started walkin and walkin, twenty calls to taxi firm. --- we are trying ---was the reply. we walked for 3mls in peeing rain carrying all our gear, to find the driver had give up and gone home and logged off. we still have 3mls to go. my feet had wrinkled up cos of the wet and gave up. stood for another hour waiting
Then found a guy parkin his van a roadie /sound guy from another band I pleaded with him to run us-- we will pay you anythin -well he ran us too the station and wouldnt except anything said it was his good turn and that I could pass on the turn to someone else--- WHAT A GOOD GUY --- if he reads this THANK YOU THANK YOU.
We finally get back to the car acup of coffee from the flask and we set off home at 0135 270 mls to go.
Got back dropped everyone and then home for 0500 quick sleep and up at 0830.
so drove 600mls walked 3 mls and the dancin at the gig inbetween, all on 3hrs sleep then another 3 hrs and back at it -------I wish I was young again.-------I'll be givin myself a heart attack ----oh no thats right --Ive all ready had one. HA FORGOT!!
I WOULD NOT HAVE MISSED IT !! WELL WORTH IT !!
