RF 25 Mill

So I had a bit of a brain melt and stuck a bid on the RF 25, went to work and not expecting to win as I missed out on an Arboga the other day, I thought no more about it. So when I got home I had a look and discovered that I was the new owner of said mill. What I need to know now is how to dismantle it into manageable lumps so I can get it home. I've downloaded a manual but it's not very clear on how to get it apart. I can see how the column is bolted to the base, but how does the head remove from the column? I've got a couple of weeks before I pick it up so all suggestions are welcome.

If it's a round column you just undo the rack securing ring, wind the head all the way up and then lift it off. It will pull the rack out with it which will fall out.
No problem at all with these.

Cheers Matt, you make it sound so simple, now I've had a closer look at the exploded diagram and found the bits you mentioned, it all fall into place(and bits). Getting it back together should be a fun operation as well.

I had one years ago and it was a nice little machine with a lot of travel for its size.
The only problem is that if you raise the head during a job you lose your X Y position. Because of this you have to set the height to cover all tool changes and then use the quill more than you otherwise would.

That beside it was a good machine.
