I wondered why a twin needed 4 air cleaners
you noticed that as well

I fit Honda Deauville master cylinders to anything and everything of mine - dead cheap, very nice feeling to them, modern, and have a nifty span-adjust lever, too.
My GSs both sported XJ900 m/cs until recently, and that was because the OE ones were well worn, the XJ9s were much nicer in feel and really suited the calipers of the Suzukis.
My XS650 will be getting a Kwack/Nissin m/c next week.
So, originality is a waste of time and money if the OEM kit is awful. I distinctly recall some of the older Beemers had a dreadful m/c that was operated by a remote cable, and it got a lot of slagging off when new - it's not one of them you want to fit, is it?
<edit>
No, I see a round-cylindered m/c in one of pics - just toss it and fit something decent.
I see it looks like an all-in-one assembly. My old 1978 R80RT had ok brakes (even though they were ATE) and iirc, a seperate m/c, so you could fit the throttle twistgrip and switch gear from one of those (which would be in period for yours anyway) and a later m/c. Purists of the marque will sneer, but stuff them, as you ride rings around them.Hi Farside, thanks for tip, as I know less than zero about bikes will these fit to the throttle twist grip etc so that the function remains the same?
Cheers
