well i opted for a german tig off ebay and it came today
so firstly gotta give them credit for quick sevice
had ordered some tungstens and some disposable gas cans to get a start and they came today so after finishing work late then reading bed time storys i got to unpack it and have a look whilst having some grub
first job convert 4mm pipe to 8mm to hook up gas (bit of a bodge but it dont leak )
then chopped off plug and quite pleased to see standard wire colours so found a plug on busted battery charger so on it went then switched on and it buzzed ,pressed trigger and gas came out
so got a bit of steel out and had a go (need to practice more )
was only thin so had it about 40 amps seemed ok with and without wire kept forgetting to hold torch on work when stopping, oh yeah reground tips a fair bit as well
so went for some 3mm thick next turned it up to 110 amps and pressed trigger and all went quiet no
checked trips all ok so checked fuse in plug only to realise id fitted a plug with a 3 amp fuse in what a plonker
so 13 amp fuse in and now its away fine will probably have some more messing with it before i put some pics up and ask your opinions though
just one daft question is the filler rod same as gas welding rods looks the same
just gonna get my award for idiot of the day now for the fuse thing
