Technical arc 250i MMA inverter

Anyone any experience with the above plant? Thinking towards a bigger performance 240v inverter. Will it really run 5mm rods correctly?

A guy I work for has a smaller one and he rates it. Has hf tig option too. What's the amp range for a 5mm 130-180? So you'd have a supposed 70a surplus. I suppose it depends what the duty cycle is at 200a?

My mig/mma is 100% @ 200a so it'll run constantly with 4mm with ease.

Yeah, you see you never can 100% tell without using one so many overstate duty and what a plant will do when they are selling it. Got an invite to try one out but its a day with travel and all that
Very open to suggestions of other plants that will run fine on 5mm off 240v. if anyone has one inverter with arc force control

New Arc rm something or other! I use it for mig mostly but have dabbled with the mma, those rods you sold me run sweet on it.

Should have bought a massive quantity of those, when I returned the remaining had all gone for scrap Pre- EN you see. Run a V down as a test and let me know your thoughts

V down with mma, how do you avoid the slag going where you don't want it? Thu I've never done a vert with mma period. Never had the need though I intend to try it, would be very useful to know how, I imagine it's not too dissimilar to mig?

It's an rm2500. My local welding specialist rated them highly. Not got lots of special functions but by heck it lays a nice bead.

The main issue is lack of penetration and a flat bead not slag. Hold it back on a short arc from below, something like MIG? yes is a way just a little more pronounced perhaps. It can get you out of a fix with thin stuff when you only have stick available so its worth an hours practice in advance

bit more than a bit for a true vertical, you will get the hang basically just enough so you have control and that depends. Honestly a few goes and you will have it

No at technical ARC themselves they are in YORK. For me its a run right down the a59 prob. 1 1/2 hrs each way. There is a stack of dealers like Weldquip but try getting one of those to sort/ allow demo sets out. Express cutting and welding at Preston have been great in the past but they keep stock, a hire fleet and also seem to know what it takes to sell welders. (they don't do them though)

I think you should qualify that statement with the word "cheap" in front of it. Most Cheap inverters are imported from China and are made in various colours and names. However there are still a few good quality manufacturers who make in there country of Origin but this is obviously reflected in the price.
