When I tell my kids that I will clip their lugs, they tell me I am weird and walk away. Yet I still remember slapped thighs and clipped lugs from my childhoodclipping my lugs

I'm off on Monday to collect a Record 52D vice which I blagged for £25, needed one for my new workshop![]()

The Yards (mine are new haha).. Thought you'd like this well used example!

They are old school "famers" you see, most of that vise has been ground away and rebuilt with weld prob a dozen times in the last 30 years or more, plus the old 1/2 inch extension bar handle as too many put lugs been used on the old one to squeeze the old girl up tight haha!
What are the rusty ones above and below the photo of the Paramo? That bottom one especially is a quirky one. Not seen that particular type before. What make are those first two on your benches? That first, small one seems a familiar design, but I can't place the manufacturer for the life of me.
Tell your dad you know of a sad git who collects vices, if he ever decides to sell that.
That's one hell of a collection of vices, between the two of you.
First thing I usually do when I go anywhere is clock what vice they use. Been doing it for years without realising it, mostly, and then one day I twigged that I almost always ended up being stood at the side of the vice whenever I was in a garage/workshop. Like a human magnet.
. I'm surprised we aren't required to wear steel toes. The Yards (mine are new haha).. Thought you'd like this well used example!

I spotted this about the same time as you did and you are absolutly correct the 52D should have a dog on it and it was the 52D that I agreed to buy, however I have just spoken to him and he has given me the wrong one,(it was wrapped in clingfilm when I picked it up) and the gent that paid for this one now has the 52D.Looks good original condition GrumpyOne, but isn't that a 52E? I thought the D signified it had a sliding dog on the front jaw?

The gent is selling his late fathers complete workshop off bit by bit, some of the stuff is just too big and expensive for me but there are other things that with a bit of negotiation might be just the ticket.I am of course intrigued to know what else you are negotiating on?
