Found in a skip. I have no idea what it is. The " unbrella" strips at the top fold down inside the tube, I thought it might be an antenna, but theres no conection for any cable.Then I though patio umbrella frame, but that don't work either, high quality expensive item though. I'm sure you know what it is...

It is a clothes airer.

My mum had one years ago, horrible thing, fell over all the time

Lethal as well - just the right height for a six-year old to spear their eyes on the ends of the spikes.

More specifically it could be a camping clothes airer bearing in mind the tangs are stored inside the body.

I found out the legs do lock open, when the collar drops down. So clothes airer it must be. 2 ft tall though ? Must be for the Diddymen.

Thought washing would dry quicker the higher it was so I mounted mine quite high, although Mrs Robo wasn't impressed at having to get the ladders out on washday

I go camping a lot, but I take a bit of string, to hang between two trees, not a lethal 10 lb contraption made out of a Vulcan bomber airframe.

Bloody hell, does anyone still do amateur radio? I remember walking around radio rallies in the 80s when the guys had 2m walkie-talkies to talk each other into the bargains - or FT290s and the like that could get you across town; none of us guessed that within a couple of decades everyone in the world would have something smaller than a Star Trek Communicator that could get you to almost anywhere on the planet!
Last HF TX set I had was an Alda 104 (I think) along with Murphy B40 and an HRO plus several ex-Plod and ex-MOD UHF and VHF stuff like Pye Pocketfones, Bantams, Stornos and Dymar 880s etc... couldn't be bothered with any of it now though the electronics I taught myself whilst doing it got me into the jobs I've done for the last 30 years, saved me from being one of Maggie's Millions...
