Cellulose dries too quickly to brush on. You might have success with 2k direct gloss.

Now this sounds very promising, so promising I have sent the other half out to get a tin!!
So did a bit of digging and generally people are saying just what you have so fingers crossed this will be my gloss answer. I will be using it at the weekend so will let you (+ everyone else) know what I think

aqua gloss, water based ? water based gloss is terrible stuff I once used some, the gloss was rubbish, even though I had sanded the wood and primed it, it didn't last it started coming off, the only good thing to say about it is that it stays white

it is according to johnstones web site, its like the automotive industry there is no water based gloss because the technology simply isn't there yet, all emulsion which it basically is dries rock hard

I tried water based gloss years ago, in its early days, I can only liken it to putting paint on with a stick, & the finish looked I'd brushed underseal on, that bad. Since then I've used Aldi satin finish & also the Dulux one & found it very good, nice to use with a good finish. I started using it because the oil based satin was discolouring within months. So far the water based has stayed white over 6 months or so, early days yet.
I will report after the weekend. I have used numerous water based and oils in recent years so will have a pretty good feel whether this is a major step up from the other so called water based. I don't expect it to have the look like the finish is almost melting from high gloss but something in-between will be adequate.
The area is low light so it really is a waste of time using a current oil based it will be yellow within weeks and there is zero chance of being able to get pre 2009 paint anymore let alone the fact it will be well past it's shelf life.

OK used the Johnstone's aqua gloss at the weekend and I'm very happy with the results. By far the closest to look and application to a oil based I have ever used in a water based. So much so with the finished result it has made my mind up it's the end of oil based white gloss for interior use for me.
My only outstanding worry is say on a hot day doing a door would you be able to do it fast enough without loosing the wet line and end up with a lot of blush marks? It does seem to take a lot longer to go fully off than other water based I have used so it may by fine. The other alternative is roller a door, but I will see how it goes when I hit those kind of conditions.

I have a friend living in France that sprays all his interior doors with water based paint. I've Seen them & they look really good. He just removes the doors & takes them outside & gives them about 4 coats. He used to run a bodyshop before he retired, so spraying was no problem. I would think that French water based paint is similar to ours, next time ours want painting, I am going to try it.

Are you sure on that? It's not a oil based it's a water based acrylic so it shouldn't have the yellowing problem, in fact it would be very strange if it suffered from yellowing.
I have heard mention of this stuff. Worth a go in hot weather if brush lines are a problem for sure.

if I knew there would be no damage in the future id spray the doors and frames in 2k, great shine and no yellowing
That's the point with voc regs and the other ingredients they had to take out of oil based systems they all go yellow, usually very fast in dim light areas. Decorators generally won't touch any oil based white gloss for interiors anymore because they will get a call within 2 months it's gone yellow.

if you can put up with the slight extra smell , ive done a couple of bits with aldis metal paint , seems to last like the old gear although it might have too much angry solvents and lift /pickle some paint jobs
