12v Switch Source?

Right,

On with a 4x4 at the moment, import job, wiring fog lights up so its all legal.

Cutouts I've got available for switches measure 36mm x 20mm.
Have one switch that was previously installed, but not actually connected to anything, strange, and it fits the cutouts perfectly. Problem is, no manufacturer information on the switch at all.

Now, I know there are some clever folks on here, in many many different lines of employment, so I put the question out there, does anyone 'recognise' the switch and possibly have a source?

how many connections ? there will be a + & - for the switch illumination then either 1 or maybe 2 more terminals at a guess

Switch I have at the moment has 4 contacts in total, although I'll only be using 3 of them. Or thats what the diagram I've got says..

The linked switch will be spot on actually, I can fettle the dash a little to make them fit. Next up, making a light bar from stainless!

if I had to do this now I would get a push to make non latching switch and a latching relay with the feed from the lighting circuit, this way you can never leave the fog lights on by mistake, as soon as lights are switched of the fog lights would be off until switched back on again

I'd take the feed from the sidelights as the glare from the headlights could defeat the point of having foglights.

My car has just failed VOSA (IVA) test for having a rear fog wired to side lights.
Must be wired to ignition live dip beam or dip/main beam.


I don't get why you don't use the existing switch.
It has a tell tale light so just needs a stick on fog symbol to make it legal.

It must have had fog lights prior to my ownership as there are UK MOT certificates in the document pack, with no mention of failing due to lack of rear fog light, nor that the front fog switch was wired to the spotlights.

I understand the SVA/IVA test was updated recently, so that additional fog lights should only come on with dip/main beam. But that's where the problem lies, for effective fog light use they should come on with side lights. I've not owned a vehicle where this wasn't possible, its so that you light the road up rather than the fog cloud.

A push to make non latching switch would be lovely but finding one to fit is where I struggle, my searches bring absolutely everything back because search engines don't look for exactly what you want, just a combination of what you enter.

Also, taking a feed from the dip relay isn't possible, as I don't have one. The head light circuits are combined switched negative through an ecu - gotta love the Japs!

are we talking front or rear fogs, if its front and they have been wired to come on with the headlights you can simply disconnect them and it will pass mot
