Weight?

I have two 50 gallon drums full of mild steel off cuts mostly very small pieces any body care to guess how heavy they might be?
Anybody want to call by and take them away on a 50/50 split basis?
Not far from Hereford.

Next time weld a couple of peices of box section to the base, that way you can get a pallet truck under it.

I have cut slots in the top so a fork lift can get in there.
I aint wasting bocks section.
I also cut slots in the bottom to allow water out.
or of course sit them on a pallet from the start! I will remember that one.

If it was solid, about 2 ton. Call it 50% full so about a ton. £125/tonne last time I looked probably closer to £90 with the recent fall in value.

The swarf from using a nibbler makes excellent 'curly hair' if thats any good. Air nibbler is best, the swarf is wider and really flows, plus you don't need arms like Chuck Norris.

When we cleared my brothers house out the local scrap yard dropped a skip round and we filled it while he waited then followed him down for the weigh in. £350 better off we dropped the driver a hefty drink as he gave us a hand loading.

We weighed-in some scrap lead at work.
Firstly the skip wagon couldn't pick the skip off the floor so the guys hand-balled lead out of it until the lorry could shift it.
Then they followed the skip wagon to the scrapyard and came back with a cheque for £19,000... and the skip truck came back for the remaining four tonnes.
Not bad considering they only paid £5000 for the lead a few years earlier, I doubt even gold ever went up 400% in the same timescale.
