I started looking about........fifteen years ago. Still not finished looking yet.
Old TV's seem to have common parts with modern inverters, resistors and diode wise anyway. nice long tails on my 12" Casio parts too, just clip them off no need to de-solder. Like a 1985 Tandy store in a handy storage case. The board's not burnt. Did you mean carbon is a great conductor? I'll be wiping it down before putting it back together.
It looks like a shorted diode that cause the original problem. For less than £5 of parts it's worth a shot compared to looking for a new board.
the burn pattern in there seems quite strange, did you break the resistor ? as the break is very clean and no sign of het in there also the diodes cant have got really hot because the solder is intact, hope it is a simple fix for you but I wouldn't hold my breath
will be watching with interest, I have an invertor 12 to 240v that ceased to work the guy that brought it to me said I think its only a resistor but tbh I never looked at it and he never came back for it so its just sat in my garage for 4 yearsYup - that's what the resistor looked like when I got to it.
It's not a complex board so I'd expect that a single discrete component was the root cause. Anyways; 10 days till the diodes get here and then we'll see
quite a few kits about now

darn. The one Mr Fuzzy linked to has a slightly lower peak reverse current, and is faster than the RP1. So yeah - that would probably have done it.
maybe are the same
When I'm stuck...I turn to ebay...surprising how many chinese companies will sell direct at tradeish price...
for example I got some RCBOs, identical to MK RCBOs (only diff was toggle switch plastic was grey not black and Test button was blue not black) otherwise fonts all the same, clips the same....chinese items £8 from a UK seller, MK (made in china) £33+ (prob made in the same factory on the same lines...)
This is one of the well known kits, I've only spent about 70 quid to get a similar thing, if your interested look up Wein Bridge Theremin
Yep - check John Ward's channel on youtube; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2uFFhnMKyF82UY2TbXRaNgI saw a program that tested some cheap import RCBOs. They not only didn't trip at anything like the 30mA leakage they supposed to, they burst into flames when carrying their rated load tripping current

I'll recheck the PCBs but I don't recall seeing any fuses. Good tip, though!Have you checked for fuses inside?, I had one that had been connected wrong polarity and found 4 blown blade fuses inside, replaced them and all working again.

He's an English electrician who tests-to-destruction cheap electrical cr*p bought off ebay. Most of the videos are pretty horrifying.
I would not buy RCBs, etc off ebay unless I absolutely knew who made them and who was selling them.
tbh I havnt really had a good look at it, its quite a big one that a mate had installed on his barge that he lives, he also has mains power at his mooring so he isn't missing itHave you checked for fuses inside?, I had one that had been connected wrong polarity and found 4 blown blade fuses inside, replaced them and all working again.
Cup?Like the cup in the two photo`s,did you check their values?
capacitor at a guessCup?
