When I had my camera collection I had one of those, certainly made you feel like an assassin when you were putting it together, always meant to run a film through it but never got round to it.

I really want to run a film through it standard, but will have to guesstimate due to the broken light meter, I will probably end up with it mounted to a Canon A1 for film, and a 550d for digital.
I'm also going to practice assembling it blindfolded, for that assassin feeling

Having first extracted from a briefcase with each part in its own snug foam cut out?I really want to run a film through it standard, but will have to guesstimate due to the broken light meter, I will probably end up with it mounted to a Canon A1 for film, and a 550d for digital.

It actually comes in an aluminium case and all the parts screw in

Actually that's exactly as the outfit was originally sold, the case mine was in was probably worth more than the camera and when you opened the lid it initially did look like what they were obviously trying to replicate.. a sniper outfit.Having first extracted from a briefcase with each part in its own snug foam cut out?

The 2 stories are that the KGB used it as a spy camera or that the Politburo released it to encourage citizens away from hunting and firearms and into wildlife photography
Having held it and used it there is no way the KGB could use it to spy on anyone except a deaf blind oap, setting the aperture sounds like a rifle bolt, and the 2 stage trigger sounds like, well a 2 stage trigger!

Yeah the case is different, mine was like a technicians aluminium case with high density foam inside, may have been an earlier model.
I think the one I had was circa mid 70's, they did sell well initially, probably more for how cool owners thought they looked rather than the quality and ability of the system.
