As the title goes, went to use my SIP TopMig 150 today and it died on me. Tripped as soon as I went to cut some excess wire out of the torch, tripped again as soon as the tip touched the workpiece and died finally after one completely useless tack on some 3mm steel.
It's modified with the wire feed mod and Euro Torch but I'm not messing with it any more - I'm going to replace it with something better (wish I knew about this forum before I brought the SIP...) in the New Year - but what?
My requirements are
1) Must take full size bottles
2) Must be capable of doing thin steel bodywork
3) Must be able;e to weld up to 6mm for heavier projects.
4) Decent duty cycle
5) Euro Torch
6) Single phase and run on 16 amp supply
7) Good quality build and after sales if things go wrong....
8) Spot weld timer nice to have.
I use this mainly on my Range Rover Classic and the odd workshop project (heavy duty benches, brackets etc) so it will only be used for "hobby" use.
I really only want to buy one more machine in my life - budget up to about £500 but perhaps could stretch a little further....Don't get me wrong - I don't like spending money but I would like to have a decent quality machine that I can rely on. I'm kinda liking the portamigs at the moment unless anyone can suggest anything better...
cheers
