It's just recommended speeds, the maker's plaque is missing from the front. All I have is a model: MB2 and a reference to using a "Pacera" low speed attachment if required. The design similarities are uncanny and I do wonder if I was told wrong and it is a Meddings?

If it mentions Pacera, it is indeed a Meddings.

Thanks Matt, that's a misconception sorted, it's only been 30 odd years! Thanks also for the link, there sits my old drill in all its glory.

Probably wouldn't have even given the Pollard thing a second thought if it wasn't for the fact that they have a very quirky design compared to other pillar drills. They stick out like a sore thumb, style wise. You've a good old school drill there, and it's obviously pre 60's, according to that link.

Stating the obvious, I know but I wouldn't know a Pollard if one fell on me. I am truly grateful for this new knowledge.

Procera's also came with a morse taper equipped quill as well as the more usual jacobs taper fitments, if you ever see a dead one thus equipped and don't have the same, I'd at least snag the spindle out of it. In fact, if you do, get it anyway, always good to have spares!
I still have lumps of procera kicking around but I've slowly used them in other things I have built, the swing table I use my boring bar is the original drill table, I managed to originally buy it with a cracked headstock casting and chased a few quill equipped heads for sale but no sucess, it must have been in a small nuclear incident or something as the spindle was bent too.
I don't use the morse fitment in my current drill much, but when I have its been for such a oddball job its saved the day because of the amount of daylight under the bit if you clamp the workpiece to the base or side of the table in comparison to using the mill. Useful to have if lady luck ever pops her head up.
