As to BT resolving it this isnt the only fault. There is a fault at the exchange as well but after 25 visits - yes 25 - they still haven't managed!!!
I invested in TooWay satellite broadband. What a con that was. Totally unlimited they said. Was awesome for the first 3 months - 24mb - but now they throttle it. Speeds of 800k except 1am to 6am!!!
Your not using your loaf,phone up BT and inform them you're going to cancel their services and opt to change to virginmedia in the new year,they will probably ask why and inform them then of your plight of not getting it resolved because they don't want to know.
and speak to a customer service rep manager not the lacky,seriously you will get things resolved if you get the right person.

Fighting the issue with BT and openreach for years myself. In all honesty they don't give one but what a way to ruin a company, first chance I get and not one penny will go either of their ways. Less than 1 meg here, my phone is faster and the signal booster for our mobiles don't even work now due to the slow broadband
