Slim in line 240V connectors

Hi Men,
Well, after some consideration, I want to chop off all my power tool leads down to 6 inches.
Then I want a light preferably snap-in power plug so I can have a nice long (or short) extension leading to my workpiece.
I can then change tools by simply unplugging it at the handle and use the same extension.
This will aid tool storage also, the box lids never fit back properly over the cable, (because I am too impatient).
Any ideas on a plug.? I have seen the IEC type, they seem a bit bulky to me.
I have seen the Flymo extension type, but it seems a bit too easy to pull out.

Any input much appreciated.

None of those plugs are robust enough to be used with proper power tools. If you want to be able to run mega extension leads then you'll just have to bite the bullet and put a 16A c-form connector on it. If you chop it in just above the 13A plug then hopefully the tail on your power tool will be long enough that you're not carrying the weight of the plug as you work.

Chopping a lead down to 6" is daft, just learn how to wrap the leads back up again when they go in the box.

Neutrick make a range of powerCON connectors rated up to 32 A, they are quite good and an industry standard in the AV industry used to power all sorts of high power lighting and amplifiers.

I have some on my tools and they are quite rugged but I haven't chopped the leads down to 6"

I've thought of doing this many a time, not as short a lead. but still shorter than currently fitted.

Problem is, I've that many power tools it would cost a small fortune to pull my finger out and do it.

PArm. Looks like the Neutrick female is only panel mount?

I don't know the name of the connector but Festool tools have a small (twist to lock I think) socket in the tool so you can plug one lead in and switch between router, sander, etc without needing to go to the socket at the wall.

If I was doing it I would open the tool up and replace the entire lead in case you ever want to sell it on.

Are they the blue ones or the power Con true 1 version

Which ever version make sure you have plenty of spare cash

I agree 6" is too short, to stop the Flymo type pulling out just do a single knot (like half a reef knot) before plugging them together.

I knew I had seen connectors somewhere, it was at a concert.
I had seen the festool plug it system but it looks fragile to me.
Anyway, I will try this neutrix connector.

I have a hot air stripper which ended up with a short lead due to a mishap so I fitted a flymo type extension plug and lead and it works fine, no need to chop it off to 6".

That's exactly the type of thing that's in a B&D Pro 4.5" grinder I picked up years ago. It was supposed to be the start of a power connecting system they were going to use on all their Pro range of tools, but for some reason it fell by the wayside. Pity really, as it was a good idea, but now I can't get any spare connectors for the damaged tool end of the lead.

And then when it snags and causes a break in one of the cores you have to replace the whole bit of lead as there isn't enough there for you to shorten any further

ive lengthened all my leads to about 4m and use rubber flex not plastic .sod using extensions or plugs that will snag while using

My die grinder has a long rubber lead, so much more flexible than any other tool, it's tempting to replace all of them with it.

I ended up getting some connectors from 10 amp wilkinsons when I went with short leads on power tools. I've not had an issue with the connectors getting caught on things. I did it because I kept on getting cables getting messy when working under cars, also you can't accidently turn an angle grinder on if its not connected.

Is it OK to hang tools from the leads like that?
