water proofing a wooden shed

need to sort my shed out. Its now fairly empty, so I need to get it to a point where its not letting in water.

what is best to replace the wood and felt roof with? Its warped and leaking at the moment

what is the easiest way to fill the knot holes and gaps in the wood to stop water getting in? I have used expanding foam for the bigger gaps but that will all come off when I replace the roof

The size of the shed and if it has flat or pitched roof would help???

done mine with epdm /rubber sheeting , seems to be okay so far , and makes sense gluing it on vs banging dozens of nails through it
otheriwise i think id consider a corrogated tin roof over some boards next time

I was thinking of lining it with some sort of rubber. Have you got a link for the stuff you used?

also thinking of trying the plastic corugate sheets for the roof, can spray them if they only come in clear

I'II agree, but I'd be asking for prices at a proper builders merchants or roofing suppliers not somewhere like B&Q, as I doubt they will stock things like ridge capping/tiles in corrugated sheet,

I can get the roofing sheets, just need to know what to line it with, don't wanna buy something that wont last. I plan on running gue around the edges of each pannel and down the centre beams then stapling or nailing it on too

Sheet perspex for the roof,the shed will rot away before the perspex roof,got it on mine but the shed is only 5ftx8ft.
Like you I was starting to mine repair mine in the warm weather but lost interest when the weather changed,at least the roofs sorted now though but the floor needs changing as the shed originally was sited in an area of the yard where the fall of the flags was not good ie the rain gathered underneath the shed and has destroyed over half the wood floor,really should have been placed on bricks from new.

i did my brothers work shop roof a long while ago..i used 8x4 18mm exterior marine ply..bitumen paint with two layers of felt..works great..no damp..no water.and no dreaded condensation ya get with metal roofs and the like...expensive but works good...

If you can get it industrial fibreglass sheets are better than plastic. I build my carport roof out of them and bought from a surplus dealer who had new leftovers from a big job so end result was similar to what cheap plastic would cost.
If I didn't want the light the fibreglass sheets allow then I'd go for preinsulated metal profile sheeting. Again an industrial supplier should have offcuts / surplus new for a good price.

Paneling could be if you know anyone taking it up? Laminate flooring.

Can't stand the stuff and when I moved in here where i am,the bedroom and living room floor was done with it.
Stored in the back spare room for panelling the internal walls and floor of the shed.

We used Wickes corrugated sheet on our shed roof and it has lasted well. You can get bitumen shingles as well.

It a worth bearing in mind it may need new timber to put corrugated sheets on, any I've re roofed I just use osb (basically the only thing used on flat roofs and felted roofs by those in the industry) then bitumen sealant/paint on the door and felt to seal them to each other.

Pretty much what both mine are except its 12mm ply.. theyve not been up long enough for me to say if its any good though, but replacing roofing felt every now and then doesnt seem very expensive to me
