Snooper is probably right to say it's contamination but clean your gun out as well just in case

I've had the compressor a while but it doesn't get used that often.

when you panel wipe stuff...have one wet cloth and a dry one , wipe off the wet panel before it dries

if in doubt repeat with new cloths until you get bored

Polishing a car in the same cloths can contaminate as well, also some detergents have silicone as an anti foam additive so cloths build up a silicone residue.
Silicone is a bu**er flatting usually only gets rid of some spots, I am with Snooper never had it come through air line usually off clothes or cloth the worst I can remember is the body shop buffing a car while they were spraying & foreman went into booth to check how things were progressing so bad we had to sand it down to filler & strip booth walls, we used a spray finish on walls you could peal made removing any over spray simples

You say you wet sanded the high build primer. Did you put anything in the water? Some washing up liquids have a silicone content. Also what else has been in your bucket. I keep a separate one for sanding water to avoid any of the things that might be in the car shampoo I use.

A lot of people only dry sand high build as it is porous but you seem to have gone to a lot of trouble to dry it afterwards.

Read somewhere years ago that a car manufacturer had banned the use of roll on deodorants by anyone working on the paint line as some contained silicon and was causing problems.

i have a comp and it chucks out oil in to the tank and shows in the 1st filter seperator but never contaminates the airlines or ruins the paint job and i spray 2k- enamels and and celly and have never had a problem apart from a petrol tank that must have had silicone on it i flatted it back re sprayed it and it was ok

I know they banned some cheap deodorant sprays in the paintshop at Ford as they had silicone in and it was causing cratering in the paint finish.

It did show up where they leant over the car, so must have migrated through overalls onto paint.

It could be something you had for dinner One of the lads at the local garage had a burger and got some contamination on a door panel from his hand and they had to spray it with isolator because it kept coming through. He wasn't very popular for a day or two.
