Securing genny in your van?

Hi all.

I have recently bought a Lincoln Ranger and im curious to know how others have secured their welder/genny in their vans. I am wanting to put it behind the bulkhead of my sprinter so I can work out of the side loading door with my leads etc......

I don't want to use straps, if drilling the floor is needed then I will spray schutz over the fixing bolts on the underside of the van to prevent corrosion.

Also, to throw a curve ball in there, has anyone devised a way of removing their genny without the use of a stacker? with the Ranger weighing in at around 350kg it is a lot of weight to lug around when it wont be getting used.

Ours just goes in and out with the forklift as required, tied in with straps. Most of the time it stays in there, but will come in and out on site with ramps, but its a 2 man job, mainly getting it back in. Mosa Ts300, so similar size unit, if not a touch larger, but on a rolling chassis.
We use a bit of flexi exhaust with a clip to fit onto the exhaust to fire fumes out the side door.

I assume it's on wheels?, could you use wheelchair tracking and securing hooks?, also look at wheelchair ramps for loading, put a "hardpoint" opposite the door and use a handwinch.

Have you got an engine crane ? I use mine to lift things in and out of trailers & vans.

To secure what about the methods used to hold wheelchairs with occupant in vehicles. Normally Unwin track but UNISTRUT could be used with eye bolts and turnbuckles

that tracking has to be sunk into a ply floor or it will be raised up and its expensive, it would be cheaper to by four bolt in eyes for securing it

As of yet it is just on two box section chocks, front and back although I am thinking of what kind of wheels/castors to fit. I also have a hand winch as you say and was on the same line of thinking using some sort of track to secure it with although I don't think the hand winch will close up enough to get the genny in without some sort of manual lifting which I really want to stray away from due to the size of it.

My old works van had the genset bolted to the floor behind the bulkhead with a 1 1/4 union welded on the exhaust ( with extra brackets) and there was a long exhaust pipe made. when you were going to run it you just fitted the long exhaust onto the union by hand. I made a bench that folded down from the bulkhead that was ok for light work and you were still able to fill the genny up with fuel.

Still had to unbolt it and lift it out with a fork truck to change the fuel filters tho! A slider arrange not would have been ideal

run the cable of the winch through a pulley so the winch isn't in the way

I have also considered using one of these but I think the side door would be to small a gap to swing the genny in. Unless I used a fold away crane that I could set up outside the van!!!
