Sealey Mightmig 150 Gas/No gas torch replacement

Hi guys,

I've got a Sealey Mightymig 150 gas / no gas machine and whilst trying gas for the first time the other day, discovered it's got a leak in the handle. At the mo, I've tried to seal it, so will find out tonight if that has worked. But long term, is there any decent priced replacements for this torch? I tried Sealey but they want £84 + VAT plus post, which I think is a bit steep.

could do a euro conversion for less than that. Cost me around 60 but i had to get gas valve as well. A 15 style torch will handle to power of that unit

Thanks for the quick reply brokenbiker I had thought of that option but wasn't sure how big a job that was. Do you know if there's any how to's kicking about I could reference?

should be a few threads on here. Basically you strip the old torch off noting where the trigger wires go. Then enlarge the hole to take the euro connector, line the connector up so the wire feed is in the right place then connect gas and trigger connections. Tighten all down and test it

i though this unit had solenoid valve in machine and then just pipe in torch leading to diffuser. If it has a trigger operated valve in the torch then euro conversion is a bit harder as you have to source and fit a solenoid valve to control the gas

If that's the case I would block the diffuser (tip adapter) put a low pressure air supply to the other end and check for leaks with soapy water.

this is a photo of the valve guys. the gas comes out from just under the silver bit. If I press hard it stops. I've tried a cable tie but no joy. Also tried silicon but it just popped. so this time I've tried some resin (was doing some fibreglass stuff last night so seemed like a good idea)

that is a manually.operated valve opened via the torch trigger. They are replaceable items. Speak to weld equip he is pretty good at sourcing things like this

I dropped him an email the other day to see if he could get me a replacement torch but he said no joy. Never thought to ask if he could get the valve. will drop him a line.

Dropped Steve an email but no joy, doesn't have owt plus side is I think the resin worked (just had a quick look at it last night) will know for defo when I have a play with it. I've also sourced a new torch for £67.50 + vat. so will wait and see how I get on with the resin which will give me time to get some pennies together. Also seen this on the bay of flees

have dropped them a line to see if its suitable, as that's more in my price range I dont want to spend a fortune on it as I'd rather put the money to a decent replacement machine.
