Adhesive for acrylic to brass ?

A lad in the gun club asked me to machine him up a brass points cover with a clear window for his harley, i did the machining today and its turned out nice, tomorrow i want to glue in a clear acrylic "window". Whats the best adhesive for brass to acrylic ?

A good epoxy resin would be my choice. Key the mating surfaces first

no way to bolt it in? Harley's engines vibration and glue? wouldn't like to say how long it will withstand the vibration, heat, bouncing around on the road etc. Most of the windowed covers I've seen for bikes have a machined ring with set screws to hold the "window" in place. mind you with the right glue I suppose all is possible.

when I was looking for clear clutch casings for my bandit most of them were cnc machined ali with a thick Perspex window bonded in.

granted a jap inline 4 doesn't vibrate as much as a yankee tractor but if its just a points cover it should be fine

He doesn't want screws visable, and i know some of the modern adhesives are extremely strong. We'll do it and see how it goes.

The screws wouldn't necessarily be visible. They could just as easily come through from the inside. Hope the glue works out.

Look at aviation adhesive Astralite made wheels in the 80s which were just glued together but due to negative customers they ended up putting the bolts in to make the design that most recognise but they still glued them together as the bolts were not as strong.

I got some two-pack epoxy today and the job is done. I made the acrylic a tight fit in a couple of spots and left gaps for the glue.

MZ Skorpion frames were glued together too, but they put a fastener through too, due to 'focus groups'
