ooooh this really makes my blood boil. For the last couple of years I have been re furbishing my beloved old Toyota Carina Mk2 Hatchback, Some of you may remember I bought a roller and it's been on it's side on that for the last six months while I do the underneath.
I decided to replace all the rubbers, Ant roll bar and various suspension rubbers, and a few other bits.
I found absolutely nothing was available for the car in this country. thank god for thinternet :-) I found a supplier in Japan, or at least I thought they were as they listed everything I asked for and showed a price.
turned out they were just another one of those places on the net that you ask them for the item and pay them and then they get it from somewhere else.
So, 20 bits of rubber and ten odds and sods all came in in dribs and drabs and they sent them out to me in six different packages, two have arrived and four still to arrive.
Now I don't mind paying the VAT when the stuff comes into the country, but those thieving grabbing bar stewards at Parcelthieves intercept every parcel, and then hold me to ransom saying they will return it to Japan unless I pay the VAT and, and this is the bloody problem, their £15.00 bloody handling charges
This means I am going to pay £90.00 on the six packages, and each package requires about five or six pounds in VAT to be paid.
For some of the packages their charges and the VAT come to more than the value of the contents
I wrote to the manager and he totally ignored me
This is just thievery and something really needs to be done about this. I never gave them permission to intercept my packages, nor did I ever give them permission to collect and pay the VAT on my behalf, I am quite capable of getting the form and paying it myself. But they don't even ask or give you the option!
I googled it and the internet is going ape with people in the same position, I read a several page thread on a financial forum where a bloke actually took legal action against them. Apparently it was this business about intercepting your parcel without your permission and holding it to ransom, After all you have paid the supplier to deliver it to your address.
page after page he described what was going on and how it was all going well and they had proved that what Parcelforce had been doing for years was illegal and then suddenly it stopped!, never heard from the bloke again, but as if by magic a change appeared in the terms and conditions of Parcelforce which corrected the part the made it illegal.
So once again the rich and big business was above the law and their cronies in authority quashed it and solved their problem so there could be no retrospective punishment and they could continue with their thieving.

Surely this just cannot be right, how can anyone possibly justify a package coming all the way from Japan to the UK for 10 dorrar :-) and then when it get's here those criminals grab it and charge you £15 to collect a couple of quid in VAT and to deliver it. Well I say to deliver it, you have already paid for it to be delivered to your address
When the value of the contents in the package may only be a tenner. I just paid them £18.78 to release my package containing four little round anti roll bar rubbers and two oil seals for the transmission case and two little rubber blocks that hold the anti roll bar on the car.
I decided to replace all the rubbers, Ant roll bar and various suspension rubbers, and a few other bits.
