laser bore sighters for rifles

anyone used a laser bore sighter to set up there scopes on a rifle ?? if so what make and price tnx

i used a cheapo one from ebay when i had my .243win. It didn't get me spot on but if i recal it only took 2 shots after zeroing with the laser to get spot on

I was going to buy one but never got around to it, i found setting something colourful (like a pop bottle cap) up at a reasonable distance 20 yards or so and boresighting it, getting the crosshairs on it to, to work very well. I've never been off the paper, apart from a shot-out winchester model 70 i bought, but thats another story.

or you could optically centre the reticle on your scope using a mirror, then when clamped back onto the rifle theoretically you should only really have to adjust elevation, windage should be fairly close. Worked on my .22 air rifle, only a few clicks out on windage, and obviously how far out the elevation is depends on what range you are shooting at

it was spot on accurate for 30 yards till our lass moved it and hasnt let on as i keep ii in the downstairs bog she aint happy

Wimmens and firearms usually don't mix, they think anything made of steel,wood, or plastic is indestructable. As we all know telescopic sights and mounts, no matter how good have to be treated with respect.

I got a cheapie in .243 caliber to allow me to do a quick check if the rifle gets a knock - at £1.63 per shot it seemed like a cheaper way of checking.

It was rubbish. The laser didn't come out straight - in fact, it was so far off it couldn't get out of the barrel! I got a refund and considered the whole experience a waste of time.

Perhaps the expensive ones are OK, but for me it'll be stuck in a vice and a peek down the barrel then line up the hairs to match in order to get on paper.

are you using it on air rifle, rim fire or centre fire? My missus don't like my guns either lol. I keep the air rifles chained up next to the cabinet and the shotguns in the cabinet, which she cant moan at, but now she is moaning that i just lay my cartridge belt on top of the boxes of cartridges on top of the cabinet lol she thinks its dangerous
