last month got a flat battery great i had a spare charged up bad news i couldnt find me jump leads so borrowed some other day got up to go to sales left lights on flat battery no leads still couldnt find them borrow leads again /charged battery and went down halfrauds and bought a pukka set of 25mm leads 25 quid . sorted next day found my leads

only a pair of leads with crimp lugs on i wrapped some 2.5mm cable round the poles of batterys in desperation knowing full well what would happen sure enough burnt out and melting

My jump leads are two lengths of welding cable; I dunno what cross-section but you wouldn't want to do a marathon with them round your neck

a good tip for finding lost items . when u look for something else and cant find it the last lost item just happens to tun up . happens all the time

My mate went to use his socket set but couldn't find it, even though the shed was always locked and nothing had been disturbed. He searched the place up and down and in the end gave up so went and bought a new one. When the weather warmed up and his grass started growing he went to mow the lawn but his mower was making a strange noise as he dragged it out of the shed - guess what he found in the grass box? Turned out his 5 yr old lad was 'helping dad' one day with the shed door open, and stuffed his whole socket set in the grass box to keep it safe

brightspark, do you have a variable bench power supply? I have one adjustable to about 30V with 3A capacity and when set just right it takes about 15 mins to get enough juice in to turn the engine over enough to start it

no just a good heavy duty spare battery i keep charged and 2 sets of jumpleads {NOW }

ive got one of the starter battery chargers stick it on for a couple of mins and away you go

That reminds me of one I had a few years ago, but it cost 30 quid and should be in the useless tools thread, not here.
