Argon and teeth

There is a myth that after years of TIG welding, because of argon inhaling, one gets gum disease and teeth are falling out...
Is it true or not?

hmm the word myth would suggest its untrue, also the fact the you breathe through your nose would also indicate its rubbish
I think that gum disease and teeth falling out are usually lack of oral hygiene.

That is is a cracker, nearly as good as the one going round when I worked at a wet stick welder training place, used to tell the trainee diver/welders that if they had metal fillings their teeth would fuse together if they allowed them to touch while they were welding

That's even better than the one about hanging upside down to get argon out of your lungs 'cause it's heavier than air
Air is about 1% argon and IIRC the bottled stuff is distilled from the air along with O2 and nitrogen

That 1% includes all the other noble gasses - neon, krypton, xenon - as well as some hydrogen and helium.

I think the air is about 10% methane where I work, with a bit of hydrogen sulphide for good measure. We know the source but are having difficulty closing the valve, it keeps leaking

Actually farts are mostly hydrogen with some **** particles held in suspension.

The human gut doesn't harbor the flora that produces methane. Neither does that of the kangaroo. However they can be found in the upper digestive systems of most bovines (they belch most of it out) and throughout that of aphids. The latter produce more methane than all the other macroscopic lifeforms on the planet combined
