right it's been many moons since i did a bit of aluminium, so i figured i better start from the beginning
problem is i don't remember it being this difficult?!
anyway, the problem i seem to have is the arc is wandering over a fair old area and causing nothing but a mess, as pictured here. i can sort of lay a bead but it's flat, scaly and, well, just a mess haha.
settings are -
6lpm (argon)
1.6mm tungsten (2% CE)
1.5mm 4043 filler
pedal set to 90 amps max
30-40% negative bias
100hz
cleaned the sheet with contact cleaner/stainless wire brush (it was brand new aluminium with plastic both sides)
tbh i tried most settings and didn't seem to get anything much better than the above!!
