They are about £70-80 from most places. GF23sr
Nice and light, ideal for long periods of grinding/cutting.
I reckon they are the smoothest runners too personally.
The very heavy duty 2500w model is a monster, barely slows no matter how hard you push!

Youve seen the enviroment ours are kicked about in Woz, cant remember the last time we had a new 9"

£70-80 isn't too bad for one that hopefully will last years. Think I paid about £30-40 for my cheapo Wickes one but it's done me well, I don't use it that much. I might get another 4 1/2" hitachi one, I do like having two, makes jobs so much easier when you can just pick up another grinder rather then mess about changing discs, (removing guards ) etc.

Everytime I've been to Greece in recent years the taxi drivers (from airport to resort) have a right old rant about the Euro! "Britain was right to stay out", "Everythings now too expensive" etc.etc.
Ireland has done very nicely since joining, having s**t loads of EU grants thrown at it for development, perhaps that's why they are so keen

All of the wealthier countries are funding the poorer ones, that was one of the main ideas behind the EEC was it not?

I will concede that previously Ireland did do quite well out of the EU over the years, but the result of the funding is that Ireland is now one of the stronger countries economically speaking and the majority of the country no longer recieves funding, some of the poorer regions still qualify though, such as the border regions.

What EU funding has to do with the Euro is pretty much beyond me though.

It always makes me wonder though, why are the UK in the EU at all?

The problem with the UK might be due to an old memory. Back in the old days the UK ruled the world (and we tried to sink each others wooden ships ). Must be painful, losing the leading status. Swiss cows that loose their leading bells often die soon after they are forced into a following role. Not joking this time, officially backed by research.

But hey, let’s haggle a bit more over who gets a penny more, or less. If the EU members can’t get their act together, they could well be squashed by the Russians, Chinese and other powers rapidly rising to the world stage.

You mean that one corrupt, unelected dictatorship could be squashed by another? What a choice!
If you think thaty all these disparate nations squashed together in a one size fits all mish mash is going to stop wars you may have your thinking back to front, isn't that what happened in the balkans?

I don’t mean squashed in the sense of being invaded, but squashed in the sense of being ignored and put into unfavourable position buy the other superpowers.
The US doesn’t seem to care very much about other countries desires. With the world trade opening up and the continents becoming more interconnected and the rise of Asia combined with the way Russia does business, I think it is a good thing to be united so that you can make a solid voice. If European countries act as a bunch of quibbling babies the other parties involved in worldwide decision making are not going to pay much attention to the wishes of the quibblers.

Just to note, I think the Chinese, Russians, Americans, and all other countrymen are great people. It’s just that when it is about money and politics, things can get a bit nasty.
As the Germans say: friendship stops when money is involved.

The balkans was completely different. that was two traditional enemies forced together with the whip hand of communisim standing over them, and quite frankly. Nobody in the west cared as long as they didnt have to deal with it. The fact that they lived together quite peacefully was just a bonus.

The EU is a group of nations that got together for trading purposes. The stopping of wars was irrelivant. The big concerns and i mean the REAL big concerns, the ones who run the counrties and broker the big deals that can make or break a counrty. ie: the Bilderberg lot and thie ilk, dont care if there is war or not. They make money regardless, in fact war and threat of war makes them more money. And if we didnt have the city of London and its stock exchange, with the multi billions of trade it brings in, we would have been the first in the queue for the Euro, as has been admitted by the Tory Chancellor of the exchequer from back in the day, Nigel Lawson.

The simple fact is that the EU has lied about its own nature at every twist and turn and when the hoi polloi do get a say, IE the French and Dutch, and don't vote the 'right way' it is just ignored and replaced with a treaty that is identical to the original document yet largely made unintelligable. This is not democracy, it is dictatorship.
If the EU was so good they could be honest about its nature, but they aren't are they? Most sensible people know they are being conned and this is part of the reason why our own Gov't is held in such contempt.
Personally I would prefer that Britain was more like New Zealand in the respect of quietly beavering away taking care of itself without the grandstanding and the fighting of other peoples wars.

It was Norman Lamont who forced the collapse of the pound within the ERM system (netting George Soros 1 billion pounds profit overnight!) & the then shadow chancellor... Mr.Gordon Brown, hailed it as a complete failure of Government... later, as Chancellor, selling off Britain's gold reserves at the very bottom of the market!

We do appear very Un European in a lot of ways I admit..........It`s cos we`re British..lol. I`m over in Old Ireland every year and have always done well on exchange apart from one or two years.There were years they were chargin for a pound to give you a Punt. It`s still good value for money over there ......apart from Dublin maybe. You could say the same about London

Anyway grinders........... don`t buy a blue Bosch. I`ve been using my Chinese made one ......crap in feel and poor switch.

You seem to be taking all this fairly seriously, one of the smallest islands? the UK is the eight biggest island out of literally thousands of islands in the world, Ireland is the 20th but ranks 2nd world wide in GDP per capita as compared to the UK's 13th, must be all the EU aid I suppose, sure you can consider it repayment for the 800 years of oppression............
