Waterproof connectors for bike wiring looms

I had to call the rescue bods yesterday, bike would not start.
There is a rubbish connector from the alternator to the Rectifier on the Africa twin, notorious for corroding and dying.
Mine had been bodged with three crimped on connectors. Well it croaked yesterday.
We got it fixed as a temporary bodge with those awful screw block things.
I have seen his on fleabay

Looks ok but at twelve quid seems a bit over priced and is out of stock.
What would anybody reccomend?
I prefer it being removeable to having it soldered up.

Don't bother, AT's eat rectifiers for some reason, just stick a non waterproof on, and save your money for the next rectifier

The boys at the bike shop said the rectumfrier was fine.
They do have a reputation for eating them though.

Use plenty of Vaseline on connectors problem solved

I use these on quadbike SVA looms that I have to make up from time to time, can't fault them at the price.

I use these on the wagons,http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAT-SHRI...47?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item43b46e087f crimp them as normal, then heat them up with a lighter and they seal and are waterproof and there cheap

They are good use them on engines. You can get crimps with built in glue heat shrink

Cheers for that, I am always suspicious of cheapo stuff. £1.49 and free delivery ain't exactly cheap though.
If I am happy with I will go over the whole loom and see what other horror stories I can find.

I'd put a bit of adhesive lined heatshrink over them. Used to use it a lot when modifying looms in brand new vehicles.

I tend to agree however one thing to consider is if it's not water tight it might retain water to corrode connection

I've fitted 2 rectifiers to my AT, you can buy a generic jobbie off the bay for 30quid. People have put PC fans on them to stop the over heating, cut vents in the pod etc. As for the loom there are loads connectors in the fairing.

I figure fit the new block , grease or vaseline the connectors. then wait for it to rain and spend an afternoon in the garage chek=cking my way round the loom.
The previous owner was a moron, but so far it looks as though he knew he was a moron.
Ie the screws holding the bodywork are ******** by pozidrive scewdrivers, but everything else looks untouched.

If owt gets past amalg when properly applied, you might as well just give up. If you're using crimp type connectors though, just get the ones suggested with the heatshrink sleeving on them.
