Selling workshop equipment

Any suggestions other than ebay or gumtree(which I cannot abide not because of the fees more the people who make an offer of 25 p on a lathe) We have some bits from when we started our company, lathe which has been replaced bench grinder linishers etc ,as we have got going we have invested in gear so am running out of room really. Not really up on the latest and greatest places and the model engineers i think this gear might be a bit big for the shed.

List them in the "Used Equipment for Sale" section, and plenty of photos. I know someone in Sheffield who is after a linisher.

More seriously, I've found this place to be pretty good too. Plenty of photos, good description and a reasonable (I emphasise reasonable, not stupid) price and you shouldn,t have any bother. As already mentioned, lots of people here with BIG sheds. Many of us have three phase etc etc and make regular use of this kind of kit in our work. I certainly do and I'm a lightweight by forum standards.

www.homeworkshop.org, splendid site for selling or buying all sorts of machinery, tends to attract genuine buyers & sellers. I have sold some goo d stuff on there & met some interesting people.
preloved is also a good secondhand site if you dont want the hassle of ebay.

I agree with Keith. Of course if you put stuff for sale here you won't suffer the problem of silly bids because you have to specify a price. No rule to stop you making a thread asking for valuation help first.

Ah thats no worry i have stuck some stuff on the ad sites, my purpose wasn't to flog stuff but find some info out about welders rates ,just thought on engineering types might like engineering bits

Hi Pete I'm more of a lurker and TBH have never really had much to add outside the little domain of what I do which isn't covered here often ,but find the information and projects (I'm wanting to build some welding carts) often an inspirational ideas wise, they say for everyone that posts there 10 that don't so .....I suppose i just came out on the forum

I have a bit more stuff im clearing out and some of its new tig torch heads et lenses that i tried to find my happy shade a couple of helmets, and there will be a mill going up in a few weeks after we have done with it , i just cant seem to post ,i think some of the welding stuff might be useful as its for cheap and just will sit in a drawer and the helmets have never moved off the rack
the place and drawers just get cluttered up , but to be honest i actually tried to buy something off ebay today and that place i wouldn't touch it

Hmm, I want something like a Myford 7 I think. Something I can cut threads on etc. I have a 3 phase inverter but would prefer single phase.

If you want a lathe, try & find a good Boxford, they are not much bigger floor footprint than a Myford but are far more capable machines, stronger with a decent 3/4" hole through the headstock. I guarantee if you buy a myford it will always be too small for what you want to do.
