So see if i get this right, those 3 phases you're talking about, you can get from 1 phase to another if you change your settings on the welder(current, voltage)is it?
Btw i was horsing around a bit with your link, my pc won't seem to open it(only if i buy a 50 euro program, eh? nope...)
Could you show me the diagram on the forum?
I think i'm going to read your message 1 (or 2) more time(s).....yes, i know i'm naturally blonde...thanks
Yes, you change thru the arcing phases by turning up the voltage and wire speed.
Mixed arc, isn't a arcing phase that you would purposely choose to weld in as its very unstable and spattery, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Its like when your welding and dip transfer is too cold to penetrate and Spray transfer would be too hot and burn through the plate, so you end up somewhere in the middle. (Of course you could go up a wire size or down a wire size and then you would be in Dip transfer or Spray arc respectively)
The smaller the wire diameter (in general terms) with conventional mig, the lower amps you can weld with. So if you wanted to weld some 1.5 mm plate, you'd be much better to use a 0.8mm wire. But if your next job, was some 10mm plate, 0.8mm wire wouldn't be much help so you'd have to change to a 1.0mm or a 1.2mm wire. With Pulsed mig, you can weld the whole range of thick to thin with 1.2mm wire.
