same here until 2 when the archers & then the play comes on -then its an hour of radio 1,although if that s410man is helping ,then he switches to r1 when i'm not looking.!

Much the same as the other head bangers on here and mainly anything I remember being played on the Friday night rock show from many years gone by. AC/DC being my all time fav, tho Tygers of pan tang are playing on my stereo of late

To me music is essential when I am working.
What sounds at work?
A right mix. I cant bear the radio when I am working, chatty DJ's and wrong music playing.
I have a quality HiFi and 200+ CD's.
Sounds range from Jazz Funk eg Defunkt, to Cheesy 80's rock G'nR' The Cult. led Zepp.lots of neil young.
Dance music eg David Holmes, Death In Vegas
Dub stuff eg Little Axe and Adrian Sherwood.
Jazz miles davis in psychopath mode check out Dark Magus.
Grim country sounds, Jim White and Bill Callahan.
'World Music' like Bill Laswell and Tabla Beat Science, or is that dance?
Suicide, GYBE, Fripp and Eno, David Byrne,
Some classical very rarely.
Watch out for Hope of the States, album The Lost Riots, wonderfully grim album about how crap it is being young.
I dont own a single album by a female vocalist.
I suffer from terrible volume creep, at about 1.30pm it starts to get louder all by itself, by about three it gets a bit daft sometimes.

But hell I am on my own all day.
Last year my CD player died, I tried the radio for ten minutes and just went home. it was that or go to Londres and kill Jeremy Vine.

Most themes and styles preferably loud.

A while back the girl who runs the farm asked me 'Why do you have your music so loud' 'Because it keeps the voices in my head quiet' She legged it.
Oh, devo, PIL, Pistols, etc etc etc.

I could be found listening to anything in the workshop, but for some reason I have an OCD thing when I'm standing in front of the lathe for more than say half an hour I have to listen to Metallica very loud .

i like to listen to trailer music by the likes of two steps from hell, future world music, adn compositions and immediate music just to name a few stirring stuff that really helps me get going at times.

I am slightly ashamed to say that what ever music I am listening too (usually 6 Music) it goes off at 2pm so I can listen to the Archers!
Also the Now Show, The News Quiz, The Infinite Monkey Cage and the classic I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue have me in stitches when the music gets too much.
Radio 4 extra has good comedies on at various times, Cabin Pressure is a favourite.

I'm another one who listens to the Home Service on the wireless.
Very occassionally I will tune into the Third Programme if there is a phone-in or a particularly poor panel on Any Questions.

my music tastes are a very Catholic tbh,,,, I enjoy most "good" music, (and most bands manage at least one good track, even if the rest is utter trash) particularly with rock influence, but am as happy listening to blues, soul, classic..... either as the mood takes me or what a random shuffle generates

particular favourites are the usual suspects... acdc, chillis, queen, pink Floyd, foo's, Fleetwood mac, Santana, Clapton..... as long as it is not rap or dubstep or just plain crap

In the days of MW iused to listen to Radio Caroline, then Arrow classic rock then more recently Planet Rock or Team rock, i tend to jump between the two if Team are playing too much thrash metal!

Usually it's a good mix of heavy metal, rock, hard rock, alternative rock, thrash, punk, electronic, etc etc it all depends on what I'm doing.... so....

Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, G 'n R, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Carter USM, Green Day, Mark Knopfler, Fleetwood Mac, Jean Michel Jarre, Johnny Cash, Vangelis, Queens of the Stone Age, Ministry, Live, Therapy?, Velvet Revolver, Skid Row, AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Levellers, Clawfinger, Rage Against the Machine

There seems to be a trend starting here, rock and metal seem very popular as dose easy listening.

But every one seems to take a particular dislike to advert infested local radio playing the same 6 manufactured songs over and over until it time for more adverts

Well don't forget a lot of the bands came from heavy industry parts of the country, iirc Tony Iommi said something along the lines of ... the sound of the heavy industry (mainly the big hammers) got into your soul and influenced the music that he went onto create.
