help! what welder to buy in France?

I'm looking to buy a welder to do some hobbying and also some farm equipment repairs sometimes...
Due to my job as a welder i have some experience with Lincoln welders, wich i like a lot...(the digital Oerlikon welder i use lately is slightly out of my budget.....hm.....SLIGHTLY??????)
3 phase is an option.
Any tips, hints, suggestions, please tell me about it!

I know you French lot are very patriotic

Oerlikon & Cemont are all part of SAF/Air Liquide group so any of them should be ok, especially if you only want a wire burner

Hm think you're right those blue saf welders are good to...(and not only the ones for alu welding)

That is SWEET looking!!! but i have to go for a used one first, you know budget-thing...
noticed they have pulse mode too, tell me what's the difference in pulse mode to normal welding mode(i've tried it out already but can't really grasp how it works)

This is a part i welded in silent pulse mode, with an Oerlikon citowave MX 280, can't show you all of the part tho,my boss woulden't be happy(sorry for the bad picture)

Hehe, you certainly wouldn't get busted for breaching any 'confidential commercial info' rules with that pic Sparkey! We caught a foreign contractor filming our machinery on his mobile a few weeks back, totally innocently though, he just didn't understand why you can't do that sort of thing.

We had an order for 2 scaffold welding machines (14 weld heads on each) from India. They sent an Engineer to monitor the build quality, he took careful notes of everything, once the first machine was installed they cancelled the second, don't know why!!

As far as I know GYS is French based company, a lot of good equipment there and I considered their machines but the availability of service parts would not be as good as it is with lincoln or esab.

choose the welder and then you will get the brochure of each searies, I had a look at the mig you use at your plant, amazing machine and most of the terms and bells & whistles are explained..

Pulsed Mig, is a Artificial man made spray Arc. You know how in conventional mig, you have 3 arcing phases??

Dip Transfer........Low voltage/Low current, where the wire is constantly touching the weldpool. Good for welding thin section, positional welding and bridging gaps (Root runs etc)

Spray Transfer...... High current/high voltage, the wire is transmitted across the arc in very fine globules. Virtually no spatter.

and Mixed/Globular transfer which is in-between Dip and Spray, where the voltage is too high to remain in Dip but is not high enough to get into Spray mode. This mode is very unstable, produces big round spatters, mixed arc range for 1.0mm wire is typically around 4-6mm plate.

Pulsed arc, has the advantages of Spray arc, virtually spatter free, excellent penetration etc. Also has the advantage of being able to weld very thin material with a comparably thick filler wire. For example 0.6mm sheet welded with a 1.2mm filler wire. With pulsed mig, you don't have to worry about Dip transfer or mixed arc, as its like welding with spray on everything but at lower amps. You also don't have to worry about inductance as this is automatically changed for you by the machine.

So see if i get this right, those 3 phases you're talking about, you can get from 1 phase to another if you change your settings on the welder(current, voltage)is it?
Btw i was horsing around a bit with your link, my pc won't seem to open it(only if i buy a 50 euro program, eh? nope...)

and... as for the input current, you can do it on some welders, sometimes there is an extra cable provided or you just set the input by using some jumpers on the machine... anyway

even if you find one with adjustable input currrent, mind that welding characteristics may change depending on what power 1ph or 3ph you are using at the moment, but the user's manual will tell you exactly..

so I would choose either 3phs machine or 1ph...
