Small hands or massive welding gauntlets? (pic)

I’ve never considered my hands to be on the small side, but the welding gauntlets that I received in the mail today seem to have lots of spare room inside them. It is only the second pair of gauntlets that I have bought-they tend to last a while. Are gauntlets generally so large lol? Can’t help thinking that when I need to use them it may be a bit awkward to hold the welding torch. A bit like comparing wool mittens to gloves. What do others find in respect of gauntlet size?

There several sizes available as with most work gloves, think mine are a 9 or 10?

Most gloves we have are sz10, gauntlets usually seem pretty big, but will soon shrink with a bit of heat.

In the winter, i quite often wear the thin type handling gloves under the gauntlets.

What wrong with you lot? I have to try about fifty pairs to get a pair to fit, they are that tight, they dont seem to make them to fit normal human beings, same with shoes n boots I struggle to find 13/14s but did find one pair of 15s handy when my Achilles play up.

I'm a size 7 so in theory I should be able to get both my feet into one of your shoes!

welding gauntlets are usually preferred loose so you can flack (teknical term for a sort karate chop movement ) em off if you have picked up a cracklin hot bit.You can also move your finger back a tad inside the glove for not so hot bits.
When the gloves get a bit too loose, I put a rubber band on just below the cuff bit, but not too tight in case I need to flack a glove off in a hurry.
You can soften the thick ones up by putting them on and soaking in hot (not too hot!!) water and clenching /unclenching your fists and working the gloves to get the excess water out.
Let them dry naturally, and don't use them for welding whilst still damp -you could get a belt(tek term for electric shock) but also they are hell if you get a hot spot whilst they are still damp.
You may end up with red or brown hands if you do the soaking so wear some washing up gloves underneath or grab some of the disposable gloves from the diesel pump- if there are any that is!!.

They tend to look more like gloves for a wood burning stove - might are quite a snug fit and aren't that long.

hang on... hang on, now im no expert but we do need a mug in the picture for reference, i mean this guy could have enormous hands, or childs hand (lol), i have stupidly big hands for a skinny guy, sometimes i cant buy a top as i cant get my hand down the sleeve, so i dont bother with gloves, got plenty of war wounds to prove
