Tesco angle grinder £4.75

I bought a Tesco brand angle grinder for £4.75 today, reduced from £18. It's only a small one but will save swapping the discs over between cutting and grinding. Worth having a look if your Tesco stocks tools as they were clearing out lots of cheapy tools like saws, spanners, screwdrivers eg. set of 3 files £1, lithium screwdriver £5.50. Not great quality but worth having a look if you are going anyway.

under no circumstances do I want to put anyone off buying these items, but I bought one of those grinders when it was 18 quid, burnt it out in 3 days of light use...also snapped more of those files than I can count. stopped buying tools there after that and just stuck to their food, which isn't much better at the moment

You're not wrong, Nursy and I had an Aldi pizza the other night that wiped the floor with the Tesco one we had the week before (in fact using the Tesco one to wipe the floor might have been a good idea!).
I'm miffed it took me so long to start using Aldi: Warburtons bread a quid, instead of the almost £1.50 that Tesco ask.
Selection of beers that I like (Old Peculier, Spotty Chicken, Newcy Broon, Hobgoblin etc.) all £1.49 instead of £2.07 at the big T...
So our shopping spend at Tesco has gone right down and the money we save is paying our wine and beer bill each week, easily

That said, we did just get a new Hudl tablet for the princely sum of £0, thanks to Clubcard vouchers..

Being German they do good sausages and beer.
its strange when you talk to people how they still dont trust the food in Lidl/Aldi the fresh meat is fab value and of a better quality then even the "Premium" range of the bigger supermarkets and they have a local produce policy. the wine is by far the best around

Oh dear. Perhaps not such a bargain after all. I've kept the receipt so it can go back if it breaks.

We have started shopping at Aldi a bit. I'm not that convinced it's any cheaper than the big supermarkets though. You spend less cos there's nowt to buy. We usually shop at Sainsburys, but I only buy stuff on a deal.

Aldi flowers are very good though, usually a quid cheaper than elsewhere. My kids love the choc chip brioche too. We bought the torque wrench and battery charger at the weekend, but not tried them yet.

The £40 arc welder is the deal from this Thursday 24th Oct., plus wrench set, reciprocating saw, electric file.

Aldi and Lidl guarantees are normally 3 years. When I've had something go wrong they have sent a new machine quibble free so get a thumbs up from me.
I saw the Tesco angle grinders but noticed they were 125mm so not interested as prefer 115mm.

Asda is far cheaper with food than the other big 4 Supermarkets anyway, Tesco may well be the largest in the UK but definately not the cheapest.

Mind you, my Sis-in-Law works for them and she received a letter a couple of weeks back to say that for that week only they got -20% off any product. We was going to buy the kids some iPads for Xmas anyway so we got 2 of them from Tesco via her and saved more than £50 on each one.

Cheap screwdrivers are worth having. They're no good as screwdrivers, but you can codge them into specials for unhooking brake springs, screws with special heads etc. Handly for taking the tops off cans of paint too.

I worked part time for Tesco in mid 80's when my son was young and we were skint. I had a full time job so did the twilight shift, 7-11 pm, for extra funds. I got £27 for three nights (Wed, Thurs & Fri) as pre min wage so £2.25 per hour. We were treated little better then slaves by supervisors.
Horrible employer and talking to people at checkouts things haven't changed much !
We had to work for them 12 months before any employee discount given.

Talkin about grinders and Aldi, I bought 4 125mm over the years from them and they are still excellent I did have one burn out but that was quite new and I dont think I had given the armature and brushes time to run in ,I was cutting a BIG lump off a S2000 ally engine block in a hurry, the ally clogged the disc and I didnt give it a rest they still gave me a new one. I hate this soft start malarky when you are welding you want to pick up the grinder grind a little they weld again but you have to wait till they achieve full speed before taking a little lump off, takes longer to wait for it to build up than do the grind, and I tend to do the grind anyway and you kill the speed before its got there. I'm not impatient i just havnt got the time to wait!!
