White gloss looks pink

Morning all,

I've tried spraying for the first time, after a repair section had been welded in, metal was sanded down, then had a coat of rattle can acrylic primer, then I've tried a few coats of white gloss top coat.

The white goes on, and dries, pink! I think there could be a few options;

1) The white gloss is reacting with the primer
2) The grey primer is affecting the white - might get better with more coats?
3) The white gloss is knackered - the tin is probably from June/July 2012, looking at the date code on it.

Year old paint will be fine unless it has experienced near zero temperature.

id be surprised if its faulty paint

could you mix a little bit and try and few test pieces and see what happens

Perhaps the old paint has weathered slightly taking on a slight blue tint making the new paint look reddish / pink. If you were using new paint the factor could mix to match the actual colour rather than the manufactures paint code.

Not got something red nearby that being reflected in the shiny white paint?

Its a rouge gene in the paint, albino white.

have you stirred the paint properly ? after been sat for a year some pigments could have settled hard on the bottom of the tin changing the colour that's the only way it could get that tint unless it was mixed that way or there is red paint underneath bleeding through or the gun hasn't been cleaned properly and has red paint deposits in the pickup tube
