3/4" Drive Impact socket: common sizes

I've a few large sockets but never it seems the right one at the time

So it's about time I bought some. As I said I never seem to have the correct size for the job in hand, so what are the common nut sizes over 30mm and below 50mm -/+?

30,32,33,34,36,38,41,46 and 50 iirc

Yep that's what my sets got in it, though I have a few wierds like 37!? For a certain hydraulic coupling with an m22 thread.

dont forget the 44mm. common size if you need to change brake cylinder on a 2cv (you have to turn down the outside 4mm on a lathe to get it in hole though)

My bad. what I should have said is what are the other sizes most commonly used. ie the sizes inbetween the standard 32, 34, 36, etc.

41mm is common, 36, 46, 50, 55, 60, 65. I use 1"7/16" a lot but you'll get away with a 36 mm for that!

Depends what sort of graft your doing with them to be honest. Automotive carry some unusual sizes but I would be using 1/2" drive for that. Pipework is covered in the sizes above but if you get into hydraulic systems it all changes again but open ended spanners tend to be suited more in that situation.

I wonder if the reason that you never have the right size could be if you have metric sockets and are working on imperial systems?

Graft: All sorts, but mainly Auto and Engineering. 99% of the time I'll be using 1/2 gear, however there might be a time when I need strength of 3/4


More than possible. But to be honest I go round the local suspects and just root through "the box" until I find something that fits, by that time I'm just grateful I've found something.
