I've no idea. All I know is that it's a Yank company. The lathes site should give you enough info to base a decision upon.

Atlas 10D, 1936 to 1858. Was Atlas, later Clausing. Some models rebadged under Sears Craftsman name.

I have the later 12" model.

The 10D's are decent. The main weak point is the fwd/rev box tends to break.

Has babbit bearings. If they are still in good shape, then should be easy to restore. If worn, then will need to be re-poured.

Yeah it's a 10D, no powered cross-feed. My 10f sold for just over £200 as I recall but that had steadies and a milling slide. Bit of a mess cosmetically but that's no indication of wear though with so much paint shipped off in random places it's probably had junk stacked all over it so might need a run-over with a burr file to take and digs out of the bed.

To assess the condition run the saddle up to the headstock, adjust the gibs so it moves with no slop and then run it back towards the tailstock end. Odds-on it won't get there because unlike v-way saddles the flat ways don't self-compensate for wear so it can be sloppy one which you have to adjust out of you want any kind of finish then they go tight very quickly at the other end where the saddle is hardly used.

They are a useful first lathe. Bit awkward to use with the zamak changegears being a bit gummy and tending to stick, and pretty low-capacity for taking cuts. I was not sorry to see mine go though it did some passable work when I had it.

BTW mine didn't have babbitt bearings, it had roller bearings.
