Tig Welder - selling advice?

hiya everyone,

I was wondering if there was any advice on selling a TIG welder.

I want to sell mine and it's posted in most places including fleebay.

but nothing seems to be happening.

so I was thinking if any of you guys would have any advice as to the best way or place to sell my TIG welder. as I need to get a different one that has pulse and freq control.

Offer it on here would be my fist advice. Decent photos and description works a lot as well many items under sell due to rubbish advert

I am surprised that there are very little takers as it's an absolute bargain. unless it's too cheap that people are wondering what's wrong with it. lol

I don't know. I'll just hve to sit it out an hope it sells sooner than later.

You could add in a few details- DC, slope up, slope down, gas post-flow etc. It all helps. I would remove the "beginner's machine" bit. Not necessary and could put people off.

It's about 100 less than new. I've been trying to workout if I was in market would the price be right. Given the history of china inverter reliability I would give it a miss. However as a cheep place to start it might be ok

the reputation is correct but I was one of the lucky ones that got a fully working one. it welds well just not the very thin aluminium. 1mm and less. other than that I have welded a lot of aluminium with it.

buying from new would be a stab in the dark but this one is tried and tested. ;-)

the price was £365, new. I am looking for a quick sale (well was hoping lol)

It's AC then? Oh, so it is, I can see on the pic. Definitely say so - AC/DC, HF etc.

I didn't fancy the Chinese inverter sets' reputation and couldn't find a decent Kemppi etc. so I bought a British-made, transformer-based AC/DC set - but it cost £1000. So to get a more versatile set than mine (which doesn't have slope up/down etc., just post-flow) for less than a third of the price does seem a bit of a bargain.
Sadly, I'm not in the market for another TIG set

Yes and no: it was built in York by Tech Arc who build PortaMIGs, Oxfords etc..
The badge on it is SMP (Specialist Machine Parts) who make welding calibration kit but who obviously had a brief foray into selling welding sets too.

It's nothing flash: 170A HF start AC/DC TIG/ stick with pedal, torch latch and post-flow timer.
Weighs a bit as you'd expect



As you can see, it does look a lot like a PortaMIG!
It was bought new 8 years ago (when the photo was taken), the Argon bottle in the picture is just about to run out. It's not exactly overworked
