Small Argoshield bottle from BOC

I was talking with Jack Paris at BOC and he told me about the new small bottle that is available, it is not part of the Volkzone offer and is only availible from BOC branded stores. Will be handy for those who don't need the 20 ltr amount

The 2 litre cylinder is £17.55 for the gas and £19.70 for the rental

I started off with one of them smaller bottles & although they last for approx 50 mins depending on lpm. I soon got through 4-5 of them & thought sod keep travelling back & forward`s, as once the welding bug starts you`ll soon come up with load`s of little projects & pretty soon you`ll be sticking every bit of metal in sight together lol.

I had call from BOC today, the new deal being offered is large bottle of argonsheild universal is £4.98 a month, the half size is £4.50 a month, can be fixed for 1-3 years if wanted, refills, the good bit, no handling charge if collected, refill on big bottle is £11.00 refill on half size is £5.60 I asked `you sure it should be around £50 -£65` he say yes £11.00 I still dont believe it. Dont want to post his number on here but if anyone wants to give him a call ill pass it on. got a number written down so im sure i didnt nod off today.

Well isn't that what I said at the top of the thread? The information I was given was from a manager at BOC and the price he told me was a bit cheaper than shown here,

For those of you that have been saying this has been out for a couple of years, why would the manager say to me "we are bringing out a portable bottle" if it's already been out for two years? When was this release released Coo mate?

I know they were around in early March this year as I looked at them (and the holder) but decided to go with CO2 and then the volksone deal instead. I suspect the BoC manager may be pushing them as for a lot of places they are still new, possibly doe to limited cylinder numbers at first.

Oh well! so be it, it matters not as like you I needed the 20 ltr, I was just trying to be helpful as I had seen no mention of it when I read for hours trying to figure out where to get gas was the best deal.

By the way guys, should they have given me a key for the bottle?

I saw this offer on the BOC web site a few months ago and had been mulling it over. It was either the BOC 2l Argoshield deal or a rent free deal on Argon 5 from weldinggases.co.uk over at Haydock. However, taking into account the travelling time and expense, I will probably go for the BOC 2l bottle. It's more expensive in terms of pence per minute, but BOC are just down the road and more convenient.

Anyway, I thought I would mention that if you get through the gas more quickly than expected and take the canister back early, it does say that BOC will refund the remaining rental. You could always switch to the Volkszone deal presumably, without having lost too much.

I always think these prices are very high, my bottle is 120 quid for 5 years renta, so 2 pound a month, its 24 quid a refill and is 20l @230bar....

Recently noticed my local motor factors do oxygen and acetylene, boc want some silly amount for O2 motor factors want for a 20l bottle @200bar no time limit rental of £75 and a refill cost of £54.

Yes, if you are only doing hobby work, do you want the same cylinder hanging around for year after year past the inspection date.
