I tried a pair of those, I found it easier with a 'normal' set, in my right hand. I guess you could call it muscle memory

and do u know why ?? cos there the same as a right handed hedge trimmer the bloody exhaust blows in your face when holding it in left hand

One thing I've not managed to come across yet, (this is a legitimate one, btw ), is a straight pein hammer. Don't know why, but cross peins are ten to the dozen. Straight peins though....

i have a straight pein-only use it for forge work,not sure its other uses?

Chainsaws are quite hard to use if your left side dominant as its hard to see what your doing without getting your head it he way

so are stihl saws the drive belt and pulley are on the right hand side

Yep same problem. At least stone saw has a nice big guard on top

I made a new handle for my grandad's>dad's>my ball pein hammer from a piece of ash tree from my grandad's garden.
It has warped just sufficiently that it is a perfect fit and balance to use left-handed, and is impossible to use right-handed.

Unfortunately, I'm right-handed :.(

I wonder how many Professional and semi Professional arborists are left handed. Not to mention 7.5% of America and the western world

Tell me about it. I've just made a left handed saw horse, you can't buy them commercially. I've just made a quick clamp for holding the wood while it's cut as the exhaust would burn my gloved hand.

I think you'll find that most adolescent lads are ambidextrous otherwise they end up with arms like fiddler crabs

im right handed our lass is left and so are 5 of my 6 kids other is ambidextrous.
daft thing is no-one else anywhere in family on either side is a leftie

I used to to ambidextrous but I have to use both hands now !!

Granted, it's not one of those things I have a yearning for often, but when one does, it'd make life a lot easier. One thing which springs to mind straight off is when shaping a sheet into a corner or edge. It can obviously be done with a die and hammer, but a straight pein would make it a hammer only job. There are several occasions where I've had to resort to using the cross pein and ended up with either severely limited swing or scuffed knuckles.

I have a couple of cross pein hammers and a couple of 2lb blacksmith hammers which are called straight pein.
