Clarke 160TM Black Tube Part

Hi everyone

I finally got my Clarke 160TM which I am very happy with. I’ve put it all together but dont know for the life of me what this part is in the below photo or where it goes. I had a look in the manual and it doesn’t show this part anywhere. If someone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.

Is it a spacer so you can fit 5kg reels on the spindle?

Edit: Just looked in the manual and that's exactly what it is. They call it a 'collar'.

No its not that one but I know the one you mean. I've pictured them together below

In that case I'm not sure then. Keep poking it towards bits of the welder until it fits something.

Could it be No.9 in the parts book...an upper frame spacer...whatever that is.

Was it in the plastic bag or just loose in the box.

If the welder works ok then maybe it's nothing to worry about.

Maybe when it was packaged someone chucked in a random part for a laugh, or something that fell off some bit of equipment in the factory.

I think it goes on after the reel of mig wire & the central spindle has a push in clip that slots into that middle part. If needed I`ll go view my clarke 160 tn if you need further help.

Pass the wire through it between spool and feed rollers, when you hear it fall, you've run out of wire

Thanks for everyones help. It was in the sealed plastic bag which is in the photo in the first post. Im going to have a good look round it today again but I know last time I looked I cant see anywhere it could go.

Anyone got any more ideas? I had a look at the manual and I think my 160TM is a revised version as the one in the manual has a different handle and a longer welding gun pipe(cant remember what its called).

I've just bought a 160TM and built it up, I assumed the plastic tube was for pushing/tapping the wheel holding clips onto the axle.

It doesn't fit anywhere else.

That does make a lot of sense, I used a socket to fit them on as I didn’t think about using that.
