We have used Transporters since 1997, went to Vivaros in 2008 and now returned to VW's this year. The extra cost of running the Vivaros for 150k miles plus was more than the extra new price of the better quality VW.
I've had an Ex AA transporter for the last 6 years, done around 80,000 miles. Servicing takes about an hour each year, fluids and filters.
Bought it at Newport fleet disposal auction, had around 40 ex AA transporters to pick from, all a similar age but mileage ranging from 3000 miles to over 200,000 miles. Apparently the low mileage ones live in the airport car parks and the high mileage ones are used in the highlands.
Going to replace mine soon as its getting scruffy, it's a shame that the AA and RAC don't use Transporters anymore.
ring them first they may have others not at the Sheffield place
and if you want to come up to Doncaster about 15 miles further up the road
I will make you some tea and sandwich for you
and here is Storm deciding its got way to much plastic inside and it needs a trim, the guy at the window is a friend of mine and runs a burger bar, Storm knows this and wants her burger
£5700 including VAT and two extra strobe/rotator light bars and a Coffee made by the lovely Katie Full service history on 109,000, all racked out in the back
Drives lovely, 212 miles I used a 1/4 of a tank of juice, I kid you not
To be brutally honest, I never asked unless it explodes its not likely i would be going back to South Yorkshire any minor faults can be dealt with but I wouldnt mind betting if you had summat wrong with it I am sure they would want to help. They seem a very helpful family company. I would certainly buy another van from them in the future, if Storm keeps chewing this one it might be sooner than later LOL Gotta love my Storm
