Scrapheap Challenge. Thunder Races. etc

There must be a few guys here who have been on some of these, or similar type of TV programmes ? With all the talent here im sure of it. Any pics, tales of terror unshown by the programme makers ?

My faves are The Barleypickers

I know two people that have been on Scrapheap.

Turbo and Ringer, cant remember their team name though, they built a paddle steamer the other week.
Turbo has been on it before, on another steam based challenge.
Must be good to go back on it for a second time

Yes, seem to recall they knackered the engine by adjusting something they shouldn't have, might have been the governor. Sounded awesome!

My brother in law knows them, also has the proper job accent, and lives not a thousend miles from you wozz...

Andy, I beleave, was the one who ran the governor screw compleatly out the pump...and f***d that lovely RR engine.. Not easy to bend con rods on one of those... He also droped a lump of steel through the camera cables, and got a serious b*****g off the HSE man they have there... Was at the snow dome the day they did the bikes for this serries.. Tinkering time is defo a tad elastic...

Personaly Id hate to bodge some of that stuff together under pressure....and im kinda geting fed up with the crucial parts of the build suddenly appering on the heap...but hey thats TV I guess...

Indeed it is crucial that we be given the inside info on this matter

Scrapheap challenger " we need a dilithium crystal inter cooler rhombus, or we cant complete the vehicle"
second scrapheap challenger "oh theres one on the floor over there. How did we miss it in the first place"
etc etc..

I sent off for the application forms for 'Scrapheap'. Each episode takes 4 days to film and you have to be available for 5 events should you reach the final.
This is probably why the majority of teams are from the services or large corporations. How many small businesses or employees could afford 20 days holiday/playtime?
Still, would love to have a go ............ W/A

Ahh mutant machines , that was the low budget copy on some satellite channel wasnt it i seem to remember the female presenter was quite fit tho

Yep the presenter was fit, the other host was a judge from ROBOT WARS(now theres a programme!!)

Just remembered, it was shown on Men and Motors!!!!!!!!!

Don't know any of the team members but I know the bloke who manufactures the engine cranes & hydraulic presses etc....if that counts!!
Also, anyone seen Wrecks to Riches on Discovery, the featured workshops and folk are "Real" cause I know most of them.
Apparently Dom Littlewood enjoys a pint or 5 between takes
